Choosing a WordPress theme can be a daunting task, primarily due to the fact that there are literally thousands of free or low costs themes available for download. Trying to make a decision among these can be extremely overwhelming. Because of this, I have compiled a list of things to look for in a WordPress theme:
- Compatible with the latest version of WordPress
- Best if theme is labeled as “responsive” (meaning it will morph for smart phones & tablets)
- Color scheme you like (or make sure it has options to modify colors easily)
- Picture swapping out photos in the demo theme for your photos you want/like
- If down the road you plan on adding a shopping cart or store, we need a theme compatible with ‘woocommerce’ which is the store plugin for WordPress
There are a number of websites which offer free, low cost, or premium themes. typically if you pay just a little bit, you can get a fabulous theme.
